Steel Racer X

Steel Racer X was developed my freshman year of college in a three-man cell for R.I.T.’s Game Software Development III class using C# in XNA 4.0. Essentially the purpose of the assignment was to develop a game almost entirely from scratch. The game that “Gladius Studios” produced was a platform racing game. Heralding from the multi-player gameplay of Sonic Advance 2, in addition to many popular 2-D platforming franchises, Steel Racer X has players utilize directional and jump keys to navigate their avatar past obstacles to reach the finish line.

My role in the project was to create a map editing tool for level editing in addition to creating a method which would be responsible for scrolling the world around the player. Inevitably, this led me into working in tandem on collision detection so that the player’s character would not fall through tiles and be able to actually move about the world of the game.
